Planning our wedding: Questions for previous brides/wedding planners!! Please help!?
Hi everyone,
My partner and I are getting married at the end of 2012. I know its early, but I like to be organised and I’ve started doing some snooping around and planning what I can so I have a few questions:
1. Our wedding is at the end of 2012 during holiday season, would it be a good idea to send out ‘save the dates’ early next year (next month) so no one plans holdays for 2012? Or would it be too early?
2. I’m planning on doing my own decorations for the wedding as I’m quite the DIY with craft and such. For those that did their own decorating, how did you find it? Was it too much stress/bother? Also, did you rent the decorations or buy?

1. I think Jan 2011 is too early. Wait at least until Jan 2012 but 6 months is really all you need. If you know your guests are the types who make their holiday plans a year in advance, by all means send them out a year in advance before they have a chance to set their plans. But if you have the type of guests who make their plans a month or two ahead, you can safely send them about 6 months ahead.
2. I DIY most of my decorations. I bought everything except candleabras. It was time consuming because of the extent of my decor but I wouldn’t do it any differently if I had to do it again.
